UPDATE: Unfortunately, the combination of the bad weather forecast and the rise in the number of coronavirus cases means that this event has had to be moved to an indoor location with very limited capacity, and will therefore no longer be open to the general public. This breaks our heart, and we hope you will still follow the launch online! [More info about this to follow.] The related workshops will still go on as planned.
We have a climate emergency and unfortunately, the fashion industry is a major contributor. It also exploits people, animals and nature. This must stop!
That’s why activists of the climate movement Extinction Rebellion are launching a ‘label of nothing’ called Nopulence on Saturday the 26th of September at the corner of PC Hooftstraat and Stadhouderskade (1071 ZD Amsterdam).
Through Nopulence, Extinction Rebellion expresses concern on fashion in fashion. We’ve had enough. Let’s appreciate what we have. Buy nothing, make it yourself, repair, and rebel! Make an activist outfit and hit the streets to demonstrate! Nopulence is haute couture for activists.
A group of activist-designers from Extinction Rebellion have been working on this ‘label of nothing’ for five months. The label is ego-free and non-commercial. Inclusivity and diversity is what the label stands for. While clothes are not for sale, they will be available for activists.
