Can non-human nature be represented? How can we listen to the voice of nature?
XR is hosting a webinar exploring alternative ways of engaging with nature within the framework of Future of Democracy. Our current political system is based on an untenable distinction between nature and culture that is at the base of human colonization of the natural world. Ecological crises show the urgency of investigating new forms of political representation. Many have drawn the conclusion that we need to fundamentally alter our exploitative relationship to nature and aim for regenerative politics based on care, mutual respect, and interdependence. In this webinar, we will guide you through these issues and showcase three initiatives by amazing guest speakers.
We will have the following speakers: Anne van Leeuwen from the Embassy of the North-sea (NL) will talk about listening to and representing the North-Sea, Caroline Wingolf from ‘Talking Tree’ will guide us through the wonders of Nature Constellations (SE) and with Klaas Kuitenbrouwer from Zoop we will explore cooperation between humans and nonhumans. These initiatives have found creative ways of engaging with nature in a non-hierarchal way.
Join us in this nature-inclusive narrative.
