We demand the end of the Fossil Port by 2030. The Netherlands must awaken to the climate crisis and strive for climate neutrality within this decade to keep global warming within the 1.5-degree Celsius limit. This future is incompatible with the continuation of fossil port activities. The Port must chart a new course towards transparency, ceasing all fossil activities, and focusing on real solutions that reduce CO2 emissions.<\/p>\n<h2>Our demands: Stop the Fossil Port by 2030<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The state and municipal governments must shift to a crisis approach and become climate-neutral by 2030 to keep global warming within the 1.5-degree Celsius limit.<\/li>\n<li>The Port Authority must develop and implement a comprehensive fossil exit strategy. All coal, oil and gas activities must stop.<\/li>\n<li>Methane emissions, from LNG ships or otherwise, must be curbed.<\/li>\n<li>All cruise ships and super yachts must be banned from the Rotterdam port.<\/li>\n<li>Exclude companies without ambitious climate plans. There is no place in the port for companies without an effective climate strategy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>BEHIND SMOKE SCREENS : The Fossil Port of Rotterdam has global and massive environmental impacts<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>As a direct emitter of greenhouse gasses: The port accounts for 90 percent of Rotterdam&#8217;s CO2 emissions. It is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dcmr.nl\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-09\/DCMR_CO2_Monitor_Rotterdam_2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">responsible for about 20% of Dutch emissions<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportenvironment.org\/discover\/rotterdam-tops-ranking-of-port-polluters-doing-little-to-support-green-fuels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has the most polluting shipping in Europe with about 13Mton<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>As a chain partner in global climate emissions: It handles the transshipment of fossil fuels, including blood coals from Colombia and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtlnieuws.nl\/nieuws\/nederland\/artikel\/5304854\/russische-olie-gas-rotterdam-haven-miljarden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the largest importer of Russian fuels<\/a>. With regards to e.g. Coals, there is no willingness to take responsibility.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emissieautoriteit.nl\/documenten\/publicatie\/2022\/04\/14\/emissiecijfers-2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">7 polluters cause 17Mton CO2<\/a> (of the 22,5 Mton in total of Rotterdam industry)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Time is not on our side.
