Demonstratie zondag bij het Sterrebos: bos en banen gaan prima samen!

De solidaire organisaties die eerder het initiatief namen voor de steunverklaring doen deze oproep voor een groot protest zondag bij het Sterrebos:

Op vrijdag 28 januari heeft een dappere groep bosbeschermers het Sterrebos bezet. Hiermee protesteren ze tegen de bouw van een fabriekshal op de plek van dit 18e eeuwse bos vol (beschermde) diersoorten. In tijden van klimaatontwrichting en biodiversiteitsverlies is de kap van het Sterrebos een absurd project.

VDL Nedcar probeert werknemers wijs te maken dat zij zonder kap hun baan kwijt kunnen raken. De fabriek zou echter ook elders op het terrein gebouwd kunnen worden. Bossen en banen gaan prima samen!

Ondanks een enorme politiemacht, nachtelijk getreiter door private beveiligers en een storm houden de bosbeschermers, hoog in de bomen in hangmatten, nog steeds stand. Met onze actie willen we de bosbeschermers een hart onder de riem steken!

Deze zondag reizen we vanuit het hele land naar het Sterrebos in Born, in Limburg. Om 14:00 spreken we ons met een demonstratie uit voor de bosbeschermers en tegen de kap van het Sterrebos. De demo start op de Mitsubishi Avenue in Born.

We regelen pendelbussen om vanaf treinstations in de regio naar de demonstratie te komen. Ook werken we eraan om bussen vanuit de randstad te organiseren, zodat zoveel mogelijk mensen bij de demonstratie kunnen zijn.

Demonstration Sunday at the Sterrebos: Save the forest keep the tree, along with job security!

The organisations in solidarity that earlier took the initiative for the declaration of support are now calling for a big protest on Sunday at the Sterrebos:

On Friday 28 January, a brave group of forest protectors occupied the Sterrebos. They protested against the construction of a factory hall on the site of this 18th century forest full of (protected) species. In times of climate disruption and loss of biodiversity, the cutting of the Sterrebos is an absurd project.

VDL Nedcar tries to mislead workers into thinking that without felling they will lose their jobs. However, the factory could also be built elsewhere on the site. Save the forest keep the tree, along with job security!

Despite an enormous police presence, nightly harassment by private security guards and a storm, the forest protectors, high up in the trees in hammocks, are still hanging on. With our action, we want to show the forest protectors our love!
This Sunday, we will travel from all over the country to the Sterrebos in Born, in Limburg. At 14:00 we will protest in favour of the forest protectors and against the cutting down of the Sterrebos.

We will arrange shuttle buses from train stations in the region to the demonstration. We are also working on organising busses from the Randstad, so that as many people as possible can be at the demonstration.
