Campaigns
Currently the following campaigns are running within Extinction Rebellion Netherlands.
The Rabo Rebellion campaign is the campaign we have been waging against Rabobank since 2021. We do this in various ways, such as occupying the head office and participating in depository receipt holder meetings. Rabobank helped create industrial agriculture, and is now maintaining it. The bank stands in the way of the transition to sustainable, fair and healthy agriculture. Yet this is not a smear campaign. We are taking action to make our destructive agricultural system visible, and take Rabobank as an example of the large companies that benefit from this system. In the long term, we hope to drastically reverse Rabobank’s destructive share in our agricultural system. With this rebellion, we also let Rabobank members know where their savings are invested, and we enable farmers to speak out about the policy. Until the bank listens to our demands, we will continue to campaign.
The three requirements for Rabobank are:
- Stop investing in fertilizers and pesticides: from €2,063,000,000 to zero
- Do not provide any more new loans to intensive livestock farming, at home and abroad
- Pay for the damage caused by the investments in intensive agriculture.
Eis: Stop fossiele subsidies.
Eis: Meer Boeren Minder Bullshit!
Onze eis is simpel: Stop Cruises!
- Nyrstar mag jaarlijks 8,1 miljoen kilo schadelijke chemicaliën lozen
Demand: KLM, stop stimulating, normalizing and rewarding excessive fly behavior; stop the frequent flyer programma Flying Blue!

Demand: We demand that the Dutch government halt new fossil fuel projects in the Netherlands and elsewhere in the world.
- Stop new gas drilling on land, in the North Sea, and in the Wadden Sea, as this is contrary to global climate goals and climate justice.
- Stop the expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure, such as the planned expansions of LNG terminals in Rotterdam and Eemshaven, because new infrastructure takes us further away from global climate goals and climate justice.
- Definitively withdraw from the unjust Energy Charter Treaty, which allows fossil fuel companies to bleed governments here and in the global south financially for ending (new) fossil fuel projects, and ensure that the rest of the European Union joins in.
- Sign the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, a binding plan to halt the expansion of new gas, coal, and oil projects internationally as a first step in the just phase-out of fossil fuels.
- Establish a just emergency plan through a citizens’ assembly to reduce our demand for fossil fuels so that the Netherlands does not need new fossil fuel projects. This emergency plan should place the costs on the fossil fuel industry and fossil fuel investors, not on citizens in the Netherlands and the global south.
