Wim Zwijnenburg works as Humanitarian Disarmament Project Leader at PAX on environmental protection during armed conflict, and the consequences of this on climate change.

This summer, Wim published an article on how the accumulation of waste in Gaza is exacerbating the public health crisis for citizens who are already suffering greatly from the violence of war. He conducted research based on satellite images and social media footage. This showed that large mountains of garbage are piling up near and in refugee camps and off the coast. This is polluting the seawater and affecting agricultural land and groundwater.

Extinction Rebellion Eindhoven has invited Wim Zwijnenburg to give a lecture and tell more about his work as a researcher of conflict areas and the effects of conflict on the climate.
