Sunday April 26 marks the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. From April 19 to 26, the Luchtfietsers will be cycling past the proposed new sites for nuclear power stations in the Netherlands. The right wing in the Netherlands (which is everyone from D66 onwards) is quite keen on nuclear power stations and has, of course, come up with brilliant solutions for the financing, the waste, the geopolitical risks, uranium mining and all that sort of thing 🙄. 🚴‍♀️ On Thursday 23 April, the Luchtfietsers will cycle from Hilversum via Utrecht to Moordrecht. Extinction Rebellion Utrecht, Grandparents for the Climate Utrecht and Milieudefensie Utrecht will welcome them. We’ll meet at Fort Blauwkapel in Utrecht at 10.45 am. Then we’ll join them on our bikes as they cycle through Utrecht. We’ll stop for a short break with speeches at Vredenburg around 11.30 am. After that, the bike ride continues to Moordrecht, and people can accompany the cyclists the rest of the way.
