THEMA: ECOCIDE ALS IMPERIALISTISCH WAPEN, IN DE KLIMAATCRISIS EN DE PALESTIJNSE GENOCIDE

Op 4 mei herdenkt Nederland jaarlijks de slachtoffers van oorlogsgeweld, met name die uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Al enkele jaren zijn inmiddels pogingen gaande om de dodenherdenking uitgebreider en inclusiever te maken wat de slachtoffers van oorlog en volkerenmoord betreft, zowel ouder als recent en wereldwijd.

Het is niet meer dan rechtvaardig en moreel dat de burgerslachtoffers in Palestina, vermoord door Israël, ook hun plaats krijgen in de jaarlijkse twee minuten stilte.
Zeker wanneer de Nederlandse staat zich medeplichtig heeft getoond in deze volkerenmoord, en liever Israël te vriend wil houden dan alles te doen wat nodig is om deze genocide op te laten houden.

Israël verschuilt haar wandaden al sinds haar stichting achter het trauma van de Holocaust, en misbruikt het begrip antisemitisme om stemmen voor Palestina en rechtvaardigheid het zwijgen op te leggen. Dit is een smet op het beeld van het Joodse volk en zet een gevaarlijk precedent.

De militaire acties van Israël hebben niet alleen geleid tot volkerenmoord: de natuurlijke omgeving van Palestina, en daaromheen het mondiale klimaat, lopen ook verschrikkelijke en onherstelbare schade op: de zware bombardementen en vernietigingen door oorlogsmaterieel laten hier langzaam maar zeker niets meer van over en pompen miljoenen tonnen CO2 in de atmosfeer, evenals vele giftige chemische stoffen

Het imperialistische, kapitalistische, kolonialistische, zionistische en bovenal racistische systeem dat genocides zoals die in Palestina in stand houdt, is hetzelfde systeem dat onze aarde en mondiale ecosystemen rap verwoest en uitput.

Om duidelijker te maken wat deze connecties zijn, en burgers te onderwijzen over intersectionaliteit, heeft Extinction Rebellion Justice Now! Den Haag een vertegenwoordiger van Erev Rav uitgenodigd om over deze onderwerpen een educatieve toespraak te houden.

We nodigen ieder die wil luisteren uit om na het luchtalarm, op de eerste maandag van mei, dit straat-klimaat-college bij te wonen!

On May the 4th, the Netherlands annually commemorates the victims of war, particularly those from the Second World War. For several years now, attempts have been made to make Memorial Day more inclusive regarding the victims of war and genocide, both older and recent, worldwide.

It is no less than just and moral that the civilian victims in Palestine, murdered by Israel, also receive their place in the annual two minutes of silence.
Especially when the Dutch state has shown itself to be complicit in this genocide, and prefers to keep Israel on good terms as an ally rather than do everything necessary to put an end to this genocide.

Since its founding, Israel has been hiding its atrocities behind the trauma of the Holocaust, and misuses the concept of antisemitism to silence voices for Palestine and justice. This is a stain on the image of the Jewish people and sets a dangerous precedent.

Israel's military actions have not only led to genocide: the natural environment of Palestine, and the surrounding global climate are also suffering terrible and irreparable damage: the heavy bombardments and destruction by war equipment are slowly but surely exterminating the native flora and fauna, and pump millions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, as well as many toxic chemical substances.

The imperialist, capitalist, colonialist, Zionist, and above all racist system, that perpetuates genocides like the one in Palestine, is the same system that is rapidly destroying and depleting our earth and global ecosystems and its resources.

To clarify what these connections are and to educate Dutch citizens further about intersectionality, Extinction Rebellion Justice Now! The Hague has invited a representative from Erev Rav to give an educational speech on these topics. We invite anyone who wishes to listen to attend this street climate lecture after the air raid siren, on the first Monday of May!
